the elementals

With winter's grasp baring down and everyone is preparing to do battle with the elements, I thought this week would be a great opportunity to introduce my brand new Elemental tokens! This is a series that I have had in the works for some time now and am really excited to finally show off! It started out like many other tokens I've developed with an initial idea and grew from there.

For last June's Pauper event, I created a gold Elemental token for the previous event's winner to compliment the Magic the Gathering card Voice of Resurgence that was wreaking havoc in Standard at the time. While working on it I knew wanted to showcase some of the other Elemental tokens represented in Magic as well at some point and came up with the concept of them all in one panoramic piece of artwork. I went thru many rough drafts early on and ultimately came to these.

Check'em out!

The white Elemental token in particular was very challenging because it doesn't represent something tangible like water, fire, or wood. And currently, Magic: the Gathering doesn't have a mono-black elemental but I was on a roll and didn't want it to feel left out. I saw this version as an elemental born within the deep, dark, dankness of the swamps. Full of tar, bog, rot and whatever yucky gunk that makes up a swamp. ( It's been a while since I visited one admittedly. )

Here's the full panoramic view of the artwork!

Each of these tokens are now available for purchase in my online store! Enjoy!
