Last month the local Magic community suffered a terrible loss. Steve Kaufmann was killed by a drunk driver on September 15th on his way home from a StarCityGames Open Event in Atlanta.
He was 26 with a fiancée, a 10 month old son, and a step son he loved as his own.
Last year I helped Stevie & Brittany create an illustration for their wedding invitations and when the family asked I create a special token in Stevie's honor I was more than happy to oblige.
This Saturday the local game store The Green Dragon will be hosting a memorial event to benefit his family where my Stevie token will be available for the first time locally.
We made a limited number available at the SC States Event held a few weeks ago at The Nexus and they sold out before the event even started.
Other Magic players have donated individual cards, booster boxes, From the Vault: Twenty, and an original piece of Magic artwork donated by StarCityGames.com as part of the event's prize pool.
Stevie tokens and art prints will be available here on this website after the event for those who missed it. All profits from those sales will benefit Stevie's family.
I am so proud of the way the Magic community has banded together to rally around Stevie's family during this tragic time.
Many thanks to all the Magic players who have posted positive thoughts during this trying time and to The Nexus, The Green Dragon, Realms Fantasy Games, and StarCityGames.com for their contributions.
If you would like to help the family I would encourage you to read this article by Matt Keene on StarCityGames.com
